Abbey Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Heavy tanks tend to take the left or right paths through the hills and slug it out often supported by tank destroyers. The central town offers protection from artillery while also providing several firing positions popular with light and medium tanks. Bases provide a full 180 degrees of site elevation allowing players to defend and sniper if required, an option some players take up in their tank destroyers.

Airfield Map

Type: Desert Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

A great all round map offering something for everyone with multiple elevated sniper positions and cover from artillery while at the same time providing several spots for players to slug it out. A lot of action takes place in or near the central parts of the map. There is also several war planes parked near the hangers should you feel the urge to crush a plane. This map is offered in "War" variant.

Arctic Region Map

Type: Winter Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Players tend to congregate for a slug and sniper fest on the east and west paths of the map that run north to south and vice-versa, and use the terrain sloping to hull down, or hide behind a bush or rock and spot and snipe. It is risky gameplay going to the centre of the map as a player will be easily spotted and hit by enemy fire. There are a number of small mountains to use for cover from artillery fire.

Ardennes Map

Type: Winter and Summer Maps

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Representative of the great "Battle of the Bulge" the Ardennes map is a mix of town, hills, forest, and river crossings. Spots on the map like the main train station and 5-way road junction are hotly contested spots. The town in general sees a lot of action with heavy tanks and tank destroyers slugging it out. A good map for medium flanking tanks and scouts to get behind the enemy. The very hilly nature of the map in the forest does map it a bit hard for snipers to find a secure covered spot however artillery generally dont have this problem by hiding out on the maps edges.

Berlin Map

Type: Winter Map

Size: 800m x 800m

Berlin was added after being introduced to the World of Tanks community through War Stories. This is a well balanced map predominately setout on the edge of the Berlin city that does offer space to the west for fast movers along with close quarter alley ways for heavy hitters and flankers. Expect a lot of action in and around the central square that allows the surrounding buildings to apply the 'pop out, shot, fallback' tactic. Players are best to focus on concentration points in small teams rather than spreading out individually. Draw the enemy out to open spaces for artillery to be more effective.

Caen Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Introduced to the Consoles in June 2017 Caen resembles Abbey with a different layout. The actual town of Caen with its large cathedral is not situated in the center of the map like Abbey and as a result does not see as much action as you would think. There is plenty of cover for players on this map both soft cover like bushes and trees to hill cover allowing players to hull down. Due to the placement of team positions at lot of action occurs around the top center and mid-center positions of the map as the 2 sides come together. Some players especially those in medium and light tanks like to try to flank the enemy by using the lower ground water streams so keep an eye on these positions. An all round good map for all tank types including artillery.

Christmas Toy Tank Map

Type: Special Map

Size: Miniature (0.35km x 0.35km)

The Christmas Toy Tank map comes alive for only a few days per year around Christmas time allowing players to break from hard hitting tanks and have a little fun. Team sizes are limited to 7 per side and players get to zip around in a small toy tank that fires suction darts. The map is set out under a Christmass tree surrounded by presents and toy trees. Gameplay is unchanged. Suction darts my not penetrate and damage may be incurred for crew and tank. Death is a sort of funny fireworks type explosion where the turret hangs by a spring. Scoring a kill will reveal a mystery prize that provides an in-game bonus. This is a death match game only with players trading darts predominately around the tree on left and right sides where the 2 sides meet

Cliff Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

A good all round popular map allowing for heavy hitters, flankers, or artillery to unleash their firepower. Slower, heavier tanks tend to focus on the east path corridor while the rest of the team split between the centre section or right path around the mountain, which if successful can allow players to come up behind the enemy. Don't be surprised to find a light tank perched on top of the west mountain spotting and hitting targets below. A great map for medium tanks to provide assault support by flanking the enemy.

Dragon Ridge Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

A mix of hills, ridges, villages, and bushes this map offer multiple directions for attack, and is a general all round map for all classes of tank. Dukla Pass Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Dukla Pass is another console exclusive map introduced February 2017, and is a map dominated by 3 main large hills that have plenty of rock and bush cover. The 2 main hills to the right of the map are very popular with players especially snipers and scouts. A small town center of the map offers some cover however is risky as those tanks on the hill can easily spot and target players. Generally once the players have sorted themselves on the hills and casualties taken players will move around more in attempt to flank and overrun the enemy. The narrow road to the right of the map is also popular so expect some resistance.

El Hallouf Map

Type: Desert Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

A great map for artillery and snipers who can perch high on the hills. Venturing into the middle valley is risky as most players especially the heavy and medium tanks prefer to push on the left side and fight it out in the top left corner, which in many games is the decisive turning point and the difference between a win or loss. Also available in "War" variant.

Ensk Map

Type: Urban Map

Size: 600m x 600m

A good map for heavy tanks and tank destroyers especially those with rotating turrets. Most of the fighting takes place within the east middle building and very often at close range. Armor angling is essential. The half a dozen trains in the middle of the map make it nearly impossible to shoot left to right and vice versa. Being a small map artillery can be easily spotted and hunted down by light or medium tanks. This map is offered in "War" variant.

Erlenberg Map

Type: Winter Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

If you enjoy sniping in a tank destroyer then this is the map for you. Snipers can take up multiple positions on either the east of west hills. Artillery are also well placed on this map. Most of the decisive action takes place on the north or south paths as teams try to break through and overrun the opposition. The town either side of the central river can provide cover and spotting but at the same time may themselves be spotted and come under sniper fire. This map is offered in "Blizzard" variant.

Fisherman's Bay Map

Type: Urban Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

A general open field map with some rolling hills dominated by the town to the east where most the action takes place, and in many cases is the decisive turning point. A good map in general for artillery and light tanks which can use the central buildings for cover to spot the enemy. This map is offered in "War" variant.

Fjords Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 850m x 850m

You will be hard pressed to find a player that does not like Fjords. With lots of open grassy spaces, rolling hills, a decent sized town, large rocks, and huge mountains there is something for everyone to play out different tactics. The rolling hills offer players especially those with good gun depression to hull down. Artillery is quite effective and can easily target players moving between vantage points. An all round great map.

Ghost Town Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 800m x 800m

This almost symmetrical map is a great map for the heavy hitters and flankers. Lots of buildings and spots to pop out from make this map ideal for medium tanks, heavy tanks, and tank destroyers with rotating turrets. If you have no turret then work as a team in support role or sniper role on the edges but beware artillery strikes. The centre of the map is popular and also elevated so take into consideration your tanks gun depression and gun elevation capabilities.

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

The obvious feature on this map is the huge Chinese wall i.e. The Great Wall of China, running through the centre of the map from east to west. The map has several paths around hills and through the town which is great for fast moving tanks. Artillery has some room to move and target enemy players. Another all round good map for all tank types.

Halloween - Grimm Graveyard Map

Type: Urban, Winter, and Special Maps

Size: 1000m x 1000m

A variant of the open field map Prohorovka, the Grimm Graveyard is an Encounter battle with all the action around the neutral base. A few dead Revenant tanks are scattered around the flag for those players who enjoy driving Kraft's Revenant tank. Type: Urban, Winter, and Special Maps

Size: 700m x 700m

Himmelsdorf modified map for Halloween "Monster" tanks. Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Heilbronn is exclusive to the console versions of the game. A well balanced map it offers something for all classes and roles of tank. The town on the west is very popular with snipers and assault tanks. Watch out for "Sniper Alley" on the far west road that runs from north to south, and expect flankers to try attack from the sides and behind. Players aldo like to take up positions on the hills and slug it out. Plenty of room for fast movers to get behind the enemy and flank. A good map for artillery

Hidden Village Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Set in Japan, Hidden Village has a few distinct features. First of all is the large village to the north east of the map which offers opportunities for skirmishes and protection from artillery. The second key feature is the large hills that dominate the main central area of the map. The central hill is hotly contested so expect a lot of action around it. Securing the central hill will give the team a distinc advantage as it is a great vantage point to other map surrounds.

Highway Map

Type: Urban Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

This map has a mixed landscape from a town offering close combat warfare for the heavy hitters to hilly terrain for those wishing to play a more sniper role. Venturing through the middle map can be risky as the player will be a target from multiple angles especially artillery. Battles tend to take place in the town or the farm on the far west side of the map. A good map for artillery.

Himmelsdorf Map

Type: Urban, Winter, and Special Maps

Size: 700m x 700m

Dominated by a large castle perched on top of the hill (with great views) this map is well suited to fast tanks that can use the many corridors and streets to flank the enemy. The castle area is often a congregation point for players to slug it out. Heavy tanks can also use the high buildings and streets to their advantage for some close combat action. The railways line to the west also sees its fair share of action. Expect some close combat action. Not a great map for artillery due to the sheer amount of high buildings. This map is offered in the special event "Halloween Night" special map variant called Dead City and also available in winter "Blizzard" variant.

Type: Winter

Size: 800m x 800m

Type: Summer Map

With a swamp in the middle and the map dotted with many large rocks, the big hitters tend to congregate at the south east side of the map behind the large rocky hill and slug it out, sometimes up to a dozen tanks or more. Players also like the northern path using the large rocks for cover, and if one side is successful in breaking through it can lead to a base capture or flanking opportunity. Artillery do OK on this map if an enemy player exposes themselves out in the open.

Kasserine Map

Type: Desert Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Kasserine is a map mixed with hills, towns, and a very distinctive ravine running through the center of the map. This is a key hot spot of the map offering both slug fests within the ravine itself and the opportunity for flankers to get behind those already in the ravine. There are numerous rocks scattered around the map offering players some protection from artillery while at the same time being able to be used for sniper positions. Players need to be careful not to bunch up within the ravine but instead use the opportunities around it to take the enemy by surprise. An all round great map for all tank classes.

Kaunas Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

New map exclusive to consoles introduced in March 2020. Lots of hills allow for hull down gameplay but the hills also allow for snipers to take position and unleash on those below. Expect some heavy clashes around the centre of the map and watch your flanks on both the left and right as faster tanks try get the rear of players. Open spaces mean plenty of opportunities for artillery so use cover wisely

Type: Summer Map

Size: 800m x 800m

This map offers a number of different tactics both offensive and defensive. Except for the bottom left and top right parts of the map the river cannot be crossed and has claimed its fair share in drownings. Players tend to fight it out in the central village which offers attacking positions both left and right, or at the far east and far west points of the map using the small buildings for limited cover. A good map for artillery.

Lakeville Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 800m x 800m

The key feature and major point of conflict is the large town that dominates the eastern part of the map where heavy tanks, medium tanks, and tank destroyers slug it out. Control of the town is a must and a major tactical advantage. A few tanks in particular tank destroyers tend to cover the "Valley of Death" to the west to prevent a base capture or flanking attack. The middle path offers attacking opportunities into the town but has limited spots for cover. If in the town expect some close combat sometimes with the enemy just a few metres away.

Liberty Falls Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Liberty Falls is a quite popular sniper map as it provides the classic north vs. south with plenty of cover, however once a player is spotted they need to consider moving on before they are targeted. The map offers a lot of cover and multiple crossing points. Heading over the bridge is for the brave as you are well exposed with nowehre to go. The trail to the east of bridge is one to watch out for, as is the small island in the middle of the map. Gameplay tends to be a wear down the opposition with artillery and snipers before the heavies move into the enemies domain. An excellent map for artillery.

Live Oaks Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Dominated by a huge swampy marsh in the middle of the map only really offers players a few paths to the enemy base, either through the town to the north or the railway bridges to the south east. Players that spawn in the south can take up a sniping position overlooking the town but does leave them susceptible to artillery fire or being struck from the town if spotted by the enemy. Most battles take place in the town to the north or at the railway bridges both of which can be decisive points to winning the game.

Malinovka Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Better known to players as "Mali" this open field map is great for artillery as the map offers only a few buildings for protection. Light tanks and medium tanks relish in the speed and usage of rolling hills for cover while tank destroyers can use the many bushes for cover. Mars

Type: Special Map

Size: 800m x 800m

The Lunar Chaffee has dusted off the moon dust and headed to Mars. This new special map is similar to the Lunar Moon map but better. Alien spaceships provide portal windows that instantly transport the player to another part of the map. Gravity is thin so players can get maximum air time. In terms of tactics this map is best played by keeping on the move and using cover. There are plenty of structures annd hills and the large ravine that players can use. Just have fun!

Mines Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 800m x 800m

This is a great all round map offering something for everyone. Snipers can remain at the edge of the base and provide sniper cover fire to the heavy tanks as they push up and over the main centre hill or through the town to the east. The high point of the centre hill is great for attacking multiple positions and popular with medium tanks. You will always find a few players using the 2 islands to the west to attack those still at their bases or strike the central hill. Most battles take place on the central hill or the town to the north east.

Mountain Pass Map

Type: Winter and Summer Maps

Size: 1000m x 1000m

The name of the map gives it away, this map is dominated by mountains with 3 clear distinct paths that also happen to be the major points of battles. A number of players battle it out at the east or west paths, with a few players fighting across the bridge. Crossing the bridge is risky if there battles happening close by as the sides of the tank are exposed but if crossed can provide a great opportunity to strike the base or the enemy from behind.

Murovanka Map

Type: Summer and Winter Maps

Size: 1000m x 1000m

The two prominent features of this map is the large hills on the west side of the map, and the forest on the east side of the map both of which major battles take place albeit the hill side does see more action. The central town can be used to provide cover but only really offers attacking opportunities to the east or to the base positions in the north and south. The forest does provide some camouflage capabilities however once spotted a player does not have many options except to stand and fight or haul tank at top speed. A relatively good map for artillery as well as a few good sniper spots for tank destroyers in particular the bottom left of the map on the small hills, or the top left of the map.

Northwest Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

With multiple paths to pick from and an abundance of cover this map is suited to those players who love to assault and flank. Fast medium tanks can really excel on this map. The south eastern path is quite popular so expect to run head on into enemy tanks. This map is not well suited for artillery.

Overlord Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Based upon one of the biggest modern military operations Overlord is a map with few restrictions to tank classes. The beach is a popular spot but players need to be careful to not all congregrate and instead spread out to other key points. Fast moving tanks can really support the assault tanks by trying to flank the enemy from the rear.

Pacific Island Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Pacific Island is entirely exclusive to the XBOX platform! This map is a good mix of hills, paths, and beaches with a few good bushes for cover. A number of sniper spots exist on the map especially near the central lake as it provides a 180 degree view for good spotting and shooting. Both the left hand side and right hand sides of the island provide flanking opportunities if players can break through those combat lines, or get through without being spotted. Some hills are steep offering protection from artillery which may struggle against enemy players not in the open. This map is offered in "War" and "Typhoon" variant

Pearl River Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Pearl River would have to be the hilliest map in the World of Tanks XBOX 360 Edition game and offers many opportunities to spot and shoot enemies. There are quite a number of spots for snipers in this map particular those camouflaged. The main hill in the centre of the map is a duelling point for heavy hitters to get stuck into each with some close combat action. While the village offers protection from artillery fire players may find themselves being easily spotted by the enemy using the surrounding hills for cover and concealment.

Pilsen Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 800m x 800m

Pilsen is a great map for some good old fashioned slug matches and flanking. Practically all the main action occurs in or around the central factory. Light tanks and medium tanks can support the heavy hitters by getting into flanking positions which will distract the enemies. Players need to use hull down behind gentle slopes and use sidescraping. Artillery will struggle at times to land a shot so leverage comms from fellow players to find exposed tanks. Overall this is a fun map for players.

Port Map

Type: Urban Map

Size: 800m x 800m

Due to its slightly smaller size and layout, Port is a map where you can expect some relatively close combat games. Some players especially those in light tanks, medium tanks and tank destroyers with rotating turrets can use the 2 main bridge overpasses to spot and strike enemies below. The far west point at the end of the railway line is a popular spot for heavy tanks to slug it. Buildings offer cover from artillery however limit player capability to hit the enemy playing in the centre of the map or opposing side. Train carriages can be destroyed opening up small gaps in the wreckages to shoot enemies.

Prohorovka Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Probably the most open playing field of any map with very scarce cover, players need to the rely on bushes to remain hidden or use the hills to their advantage. The western corridor from north to south is always popular with players as is the large hill to the east which offers good viewing and spotting to the town below and opposing grassy hill. Don't be surprised to find light tanks dashing around the middle hill spotting enemies and calling in shots. A fantastic map for artillery. Another popular spot is the north-south path in the far west point of the map which offers opportunities to strike enemy players exposed on the central hills. While this map is well suited to all tank types, Medium tanks with their balance of armor and firepower can excel on this map especially if working in team. Artillery also do very well on this map due to limited cover.

Ruinberg Map

Type: Urban Map

Size: 800m x 800m

A great map resembling a variance of Siegfried Line and Himmelsdorf offering up urban and open space bush combat with quite a bit of debris available for cover. Severogorsk Map

Type: Winter Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Get your winter camo paint on as you prepare for a mixed game of sniper and assault. Access around the map from north to south and vice versa is mainly along 3 lines; left trail, centre trail through the town, and right trail which is where the heavy hitters tend to venture and slug it out. Going through the town has its risks due to multiple sniper positions which can also be used by light tanks to spot the enemy.

Siegfried Line Map

Type: Urban Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

This map is one of the few maps that offers both open playing fields and an indestructible town. While some players particularly tank destroyers use the open fields and bunkers to strike those lurking near the edges of the town most of the action takes place in the town itself. Players should check the map carefully when in the town looking for opportunities to flank enemies from the sides and behind especially when already engaged in a battle. A great all round map for all tank types. This map is offered in "War" variant.

Skorpion Pass Map

Type: Desert Map

Skorpion Pass is exclusive to the consoles and offers a range of tactics and gameplay for different classes and roles. The most eastern side of the map on the hill is a very popular spot for snipers who have an amazing mostly unobstructed 180 degree view of the valley below. They will most likely spot you first until they fire their first shot and give away their position. Another spot that sees some heavy action is the hills at the north western part of the map where heavy tanks and tank destoyers slug it out. This is a good map for mediums to use the central valleys to try flank enemies, and an all round good map for artillery especially at choke points.

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Do you enjoy ambushes? If you do well this is the map for you with plenty of opportunities to ambush and flank the enemy. Venturing down that path on your own is risky so take a few team mates with you and be prepared for a potential slugfest. The village to the west offers a few opportunities for players to use cover while attacking. Don't forget about the beach on the west coast as its another popular spot especially for fast tanks to get into spotting and ambush sites. Also available in "Rain" variant.

Steppes Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Players who like to sniper especially those in camouflaged tank destroyers can take up multiple sniper positions near their bases behind large rocks that oversee the central fields. Teamwork is essential on this map if the large heavy tanks are to have a serious impact otherwise they can be quite easily flanked by medium and light tanks.

Swamp Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Swamp is an all round map suited to all classes of tanks with a mix of terrain. Expect tank traffic on the 2 paths running north to south on the left and right sides of the map which provide points of attack down to the actual swamp but in turn offers little protection. Each side has its own village which is popular with artillery to hide in or near. The core feature of the map is the swamp itself which is a tactical point but players especially those with slow tanks need to be careful venturing into the swamp zone and into the watchful eyes of snipers.

Trench Warfare is a special map representing the western front trench line battles of world war one (WWI), and is only for use with the first ever tank to hit the battleground, the Mark I tank! Tundra Map

Type: Summer and Winter Maps

Size: 800m x 800m

The main stand out feature of this map and a point that is heavily contested is the elevated section on the eastern part of the map that separates the river into two streams. Expect all nature of tanks that control that point to switch to sniper mode. For those preferring to battle it out the old fashion way there are multiple paths east and west of the bridge that provide cover while popping out for shots at the enemy. Use the cover to your advantage.

Westfield Map

Type: Summer Map

Size: 1000m x 1000m

This map is both artillery heaven and sniper heaven for tank destroyers with plenty of green bushy cover to hide behind. Players may use the central town for cover in order to attack or flank their enemy from the sides or rear. The edge of the large bridge to the east is very popular with players as they have a clear 180 degree line of sight and can use the valley below as an escape route if needed. This is one map where battles can take place practically anywhere and the hills can be used to peek over or provide flanking opportunities.

Widepark Map

Type: Urban Map

Size: 600m x 600m

The key defining feature of this map is the railway line high on the hill that runs from east to west creating a large divider between opposing forces. Many large battles take place at the railway underpass to the west, and also the railway lines to the southeast. Light tanks use the main railway hill to peer over and spot enemies. There are destroyed buildings that can be used by players for artillery cover and extra tank protection while they target the enemy. The team that breaks through either on the left or right sides of the map generally get the win by overrunning the enemy base and striking enemies from behind. This map is offered in "Rain" variant.

Windstorm Map

Type: Winter Maps

Size: 1000m x 1000m

Windstorm joined the console maps in May 2017 and is one of your more classic big town mixed terrain maps. While the map itself is large the actual playable surface area is reduced forcing players to slug it out at the various key choke points. There a numerous places to spot tanks the most popular points being the hills near the centre of the map. In fact players can expect quite of bit of action near the centre of the map as snipers and medium tanks can provide support across a wide arc range. Most players in heavy tanks tend to head to the main town as it provides ample cover from artillery.
